Rick Harrell

Rick Harrell is a native Memphian and proud graduate of The University of Memphis. After earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree, Rick worked in the Criminal Justice System as a Probation Officer working with adult and teen offenders during his tenure.  After 11 years of working in the Criminal Justice System, Rick continued his education and completed a Master’s of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology in 1999. Rick is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Tennessee, and a National Board Certified Counselor.  He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Behavioral Health at Freed-Hardeman University.

Rick previously worked as a therapist for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office for approximately 12 years providing mental health and counseling services to corrections and law enforcement officers. In 2000, Rick and his wife became owners of Barris and Associates, an Anger Management and Domestic Violence program that was previously owned by the late Dr. Bradley P. Barris.

Rick has continued to offer counseling to couples, youth, and individuals that were court ordered or seeking services voluntarily.  He opened his new practice in 2019 and published his first book entitled: What You See Is What You Get, A Spiritual and Non-Traditional Perspective to Understanding Behaviors Within Relationships.
